Netflix announced its first quarter earnings this afternoon.
Revenue is inline with analyst’s expectations but EPS killed and the stock is up about 20% after-hours.

- Revenue: $1.02 billion verses $1.02 billion
- EPS: $0.31 versus $0.20
- Earnings guidance: sees Q2 EPS $0.23-$0.48 versus expectations of $0.30 EPS

Apple And Samsung Swallow All The Smartphone Industry’s Profits And Then Some (AAPL, RIMM, GOOG)

Samsung and Apple have swallowed up all the profits in the smartphone business. According to data from Canaccord Genuity, last quarter those two companies had 108% of the industry’s profits.
Using Canaccord’s data we’ve made this chart. Note that it is annual data from 2007-2011, then quarterly data for the last two quarters. The ascent of Apple and Samsung, while everyone else crashes is astounding.
