Ceelo Madonna

Think headliner Madonna was the highlight of Sunday night’s Super Bowl halftime show performance?

Think again.

According to ClearSpring, the most tweeted about/Facebooked/e-mailed/printed/overall social-media’s most clicked upon celeb of the night was none other than Cee Lo Green.

Cee Lo beat out not only Madonna as the most talked about on the internet during the big game, but also Kelly Clarkson, M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj.

After taking the stage dressed as a band leader and dueting with Madonna on “Express Yourself” and the grand finale, “Like a Prayer,” Cee Lo fans freaked, causing his online presence to surge to over 2,000 percent above normal—and nearly double any other Super Bowl act.

Cee Lo couldn’t be reached for comment but we have a feeling we know what he would say to his competition and haters: “Forget You.”

Check out the chart below that proves Cee Lo’s online popularity:

The Domino's Super Bowl Pizza War Room Oozes Pepperoni, Cheese, and SadnessOn Super Bowl Sunday, 55 IT specialists will huddle together in a dark room to keep their company’s website afloat on the biggest day of its entire year, since it’s going to be bombarded by millions of ravenous fans. But the company they work for isn’t the NFL.

It’s freaking Domino’s.

Here’s how Domino’s social media specialist explained the roles of who’s in the room to The Atlantic:

* Application owners check the initial code of our applications, making up our defensive line.
* Those watching our operating systems are our second line of defense, or “line backers”… who react to every situation on the “field.”
* Those observing the network will jump in and “cover” if anything looks dicey on a larger scale, serving as our “cornerbacks.”
* In case someone tries a “Hail Mary” play to hack into part of our system, we have our Security team there as our “safeties” – our last line of defense!

Which is about the caliber of sports metaphor you’d expect from a social media specialist. But it doesn’t make it any less cool that Dominos stuffs bunch of nerds into a room during the super bowl to make sure you get your pizza. [Dominos via The Atlantic]

The Super Bowl Is More Important Than Just About Anything To Americans

The Super Bowl is really important to Americans.

The year’s most highly-anticipated sporting event is so important, in fact, that 15 percent of adults would miss the birth of their own child to attend a Super Bowl game featuring their favorite NFL team, according to a recent survey by CouponCabin.com (via The Week).

Apparently funerals and weddings also become back-burner commitments when Super Bowl Sunday rolls around: Nineteen percent of participants said they would miss the funeral of a loved one to watch their team play and 20 percent said they would miss the wedding of a close family member.

Facebook usage by hour

Source: http://wearesocial.net/blog/2010/11/socials-monday-mashup-47/

When is Facebook used most?

Facebook usage by time of day

An interesting study from Vitrue revealed that 3pm EST on weekdays is when Facebook users are most active. There were other noteworthy findings including the news that Sunday is the day when fans are least active. Perhaps this is because pages are only updated during the ‘working week’ but nonetheless it suggests that people use Facebook less at weekends.

These findings are important as they help brands to know when to target users. As the graph below shows, there is a huge disparity between when users are most active and when users are least active. What’s important for page managers is to maximise interactions with the page and to create more conversation. Statistics such as these should help them achieve this goal.

Barely Anyone Watched The World Series Last Night, But It Still Got Twice As Many Viewers As Football

Source: http://www.businessinsider.com/mlb-rangers-cardinals-world-series-ratings-lowest-ever-for-a-game-5-2011-10

Bud Selig

Last night’s overnight rating of 10.0 was the lowest-ever for a World Series game five, and was down from the 10.1 overnight rating for Sunday night’s game four.

Still, the 10.0 rating easily outpaced the Monday Night Football matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars that pulled an overnight rating of 5.8. That tied the record for the lowest rating ever for a Monday Night Football game.

When asked about Major League Baseball’s low World Series ratings prior to last night’s game, commissioner Bud Selig continued to push the company line. “I can show you all the numbers. Baseball is more popular than ever,” said Selig.

Luckily for Selig and Major League Baseball, the World Series will have a game six and won’t have to worry about competing with any NFL games. Ratings for game six and a potential game seven should soar.

Apple sells 1.7 million iPhone 4s through Saturday, June 26

Source: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/28/apple-sells-1-7-million-iphone-4s-through-satruday-june-26/

There you have it. 600,000 pre-orders turned into 1.7 million iPhone 4 sales through this Saturday — the Sunday transactions haven’t even been tallied up yet. One more reason for Steve and company to look smug. That eclipses the 3GS’ already phenomenal 1 million units sold over a weekend, and stands pretty much head and shoulders above any other launch the mobile world has yet seen.
